Run Your Own Event: A Guide

As we’ve mentioned previously, it is our desire to share some information about how we run an event like HackFu, so that others can learn from our experiences and take some inspiration to possibly run their own.

We know that it’s tough to bring all the component pieces of HackFu together and we don’t want to misguide anyone wanting to set out on this journey into thinking it's all plain sailing. However, the content in this part of the site will help you go out and put on an event as good as or even better than HackFu for yourselves.

To help you do that, this section of the website will be centered around some of the people and companies that make HackFu a success. They’ll let you know in their own words what it’s like to be involved in the process, what they can bring to the event and what they get out of the experience. So we’ll regularly add to this section and increase the body of information available to anyone wanting to replicate or build on what we’ve learned.

All we ask in return is that you share your experiences back with us, so we can share those and thereby enable others to learn from our collective experiences. After reading the below, please contact us if you would like to learn more about running your own event.

Part 1: The Construct

The construct, or theme, is the most important aspect of the event as it's the thing from which everything else flows.

Part 2: The Venue

Finding a great venue is a fundamental part of HackFu success. But how do you know when you’ve found a genuine “HackFu Venue”?

Part 3: The Theatrics

Creating the immersive and unique experience for the attendees that makes the experience feel more “real”.

Part 4: The Challenges

One of the key ingredients to making an event like HackFu is the unique and innovative challenges.
